South King County. This is WTA's first time at this park, located adjacent to Spring Lake/Lake Desire (Echo Mountain) Park. During this week, you will work on projects to improve existing trails that were impacted during recent timber harvest, including re-routing some sections of trail.
The King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks recently completed the McGarvey Park Open Space Forest Stewardship Plan. The plan provides management recommendations to help guide the long-term stewardship of this 400-acre forest, which neighbors Spring Lake/Lake Desire Park, through a series of adaptive forest practices that will improve forest health and promote plant and animal biodiversity. WTA will work with the park on improving existing trails, re-routing sections of trails impacted by timber harvest, as well as the creation of some new trails.
