Come help re-tread this trail in the midst of thick old-growth forest along the Mountain Loop Highway. We'll work on improving the tread so that drainage can more easily run off the trail. The peek-a-boo views of White Chuck and the Sauk River that are this trail's namesake won't disappoint you. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the tradition of Thursday breakfast will not be honored this Thursday in Darrington. Eat first. A forest trail climbs to a delightful meadow with a spectacular view, then drops to a lake set in the deep woods of a deep cirque. The trail climbs along an old logging grade then narrows to a foot path in virgin forest. Switchbacks ascend to a 4300 foot high point from which easy ups and downs lead to a small pond and a pretty meadow. From here a boot path leads down to the lake and campgrounds.
