Come help re-tread this trail in the midst of thick old-growth forest along the Mountain Loop Highway. We'll work on improving the tread so that drainage can more easily run off the trail. The peek-a-boo views of White Chuck and the Sauk River that are this trail's namesake won't disappoint you.

A forest trail climbs to a delightful meadow with a spectacular view, then drops to a lake set in the deep woods of a deep cirque. The trail climbs along an old logging grade then narrows to a foot path in virgin forest. Switchbacks ascend to a 4300 foot high point from which easy ups and downs lead to a small pond and a pretty meadow. From here a boot path leads down to the lake and campgrounds.

Driving directions:
From Seattle, drive 40 miles north on I-5 and take exit 208 (Arlington/Silvana). Drive about 32 miles on Highway 530 to Darrington. From Darrington, drive south on the Mountain Loop Highway, along the west side of the Sauk River. At 8.8 miles from Darrington and just short of the Sauk River bridge, turn right on Forest Service Road 2080. Travel for 1.1 miles and turn right again on road FSR 2081, signed “ Peek-A-Boo Lake 4 miles.” At 4.5 miles from the Highway go left on FSR 2086 and at 5.7 miles from the Highway, find the trailhead at a wide parking area, elevation 3000 feet. (Driving time from Seattle: approximately 2.5 hours.)
