Puget Sound Area, I-90 at exit 45. You'll find two lovely apline lakes along this popular trail. 2 miles down this forested route is Talapus Lake; 1.25 miles farther along is Ollalie Lake (Ollallie meaning “berries” in Chinook). There is plenty of annual maintenance and tread work to keep us busy.

This moderately steep trail (4.0 miles) is a great one to hike with kids, although it will be crowded on the weekend. 2 miles down this forested route is Talapus Lake; 1 1/4 miles futher down is Ollalie Lake (Ollallie meaning “berries” in Chinook). Both are lovely alpine lakes with lots of campsites sure to be full on weekends.

Driving directions:
From Seattle drive east on I-90 and take exit 45 (Bandera Airfield/Lookout Point Road). Turn left and go under the freeway, then go straight ahead (west) for 1 mile on Forest Service Road 9030. When the road splits, go right and follow FSR 9030 uphill for 3.2 miles to the end at the Talapus Lake Trail No. 1039; elevation 2560 feet. (Driving time from Seattle: approximately 1 hour including 3.2 miles on gravel road).
