Forest Service plans to make the Cape Horn Trail official are underway. This spring work started on one of several reroutes that will provide a more sustainable trail grade. Be a part of the many volunteers and partnering organizations that have helped to make this dream a reality.

The Cape Horn Trail makes a 7 mile loop hike that showcases the Gorge's incredible scenery. Originally pioneered by hiking enthusiasts, the trail was not sanctioned by the Forest Service until 2010. Now a coalition of local hiking advocates are working with the Forest Service to establish an official trail that will be safe and sustainable for generations to come.

Driving directions:
SALMON FALLS TRAILHEAD: Meet at the Skamania County Public Transit Park and Ride at the jct of Salmon Falls Road and Hwy 14. The Park and Ride is a small parking lot with a vault toilet about 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver, WA. Take Hwy 14 east though Camas and Washougal. Drive past Cape Horn then look for the park and ride on the left side of the road at milepost 26.4. Since it is a county facility, you don’t need a Forest Pass to park there.
