Skykomish Area, off Hwy 2. We are working on the beautiful West Fork Foss trail. Over the last couple of years we have helped to reconstruct much of the trail up to the new bridge site over the west fork. We will be working on a few items left over from that project and then move beyond the bridge site to work on areas that still need to be upgraded.
Some interesting facts about this trail. This is a very popular starting point for those who want to experience the seemingly endless alpine lakes surrounded by rugged glacier-carved peaks, clear streams, and waterfalls. The first in this chain of lakes is Trout Lake, just 1.5 miles from the car. Malachite is at 3.5 miles, Copper at 4.0, Little Heart at 6.0, Delta at 7.5 and many more off-trail to the south and east. The trail steepens significantly after Trout Lake, gaining 1800 feet in two miles.
