Eastern Washington. Mount Spokane has many great hiking, biking, and equestrian trails - day hikes that easily accommodate all interests and abilities. The trails are used year-round, and because of this several of the trails need to be heavily maintained and improved to withstand the continual foot/tire/hoof traffic. This is a new project for WTA, and we hope you will join us as we start to help the Park on their endeavor to upgrade these trails.

Our first project will be to reroute Trail 100 East near its junction with the east fork of Burping Brook and the Lower Kit Carson Loop Road trailhead by continuing the trail down the slope and eliminating the current steps. The goal is to make this short section of trail more passable for equestrians and cyclists while preventing erosion.

Driving directions:
Take US rte 2 (Newport Highway) to the junction with state rte highway 206, known as Mt Spokane Park Drive. Follow that to the park entrance and drive 1.6 miles farther to the Lower Loop Road trailhead known locally as "the hairpin turn." There is a Sno-Park lot where volunteers can park.
