Squire Creek Trail

Beginning on an old abandoned logging road, this trail crosses numerous creeks and springs, passing through patches of old-growth timber. This is the first time WTA has worked here. This spring we'll be building a new turnpike in a badly-washed-out section of trail. Come leave your mark on this new project!

Beginning on an old abandoned logging road, this trail crosses numerous creeks and springs, passing through patches of old-growth timber. Some of the most spectacular views of Three Fingers, Mt. Bullon and seldom-seen cliffs of Whitehorse can be seen from the trail as it climbs steadily upward. From the pass the views to be found to the east are spectacular. To see to the south, you must climb on up to the ridge. There are numerous tarns in the pass, nestled here and there among the huckleberry bushes and heather. Mountain goats are known to frequent the area.

Driving directions:
From Seattle, drive 40 miles north on I-5 and take exit 208 (Silvana/Arlington). Drive about 32 miles east on Highway 530 to Darrington. At the only 4-way stop in town turn right onto the Mountain Loop Highway. Stay on Mountain Loop Highway for 0.3 miles and turn right onto Darrington Street. Continue to follow Darrington Street for 7 miles to the road end. (Driving time from Seattle about 1.5 hours).
