Nat'l Trails Day in the Mount Baker area. This easy 1.5 mile forest trail is hikeable (and popular) year-round. It winds through lush old growth forest and parallels the North Fork of the Nooksack River. WTA will begin the Mount Baker district season with some general maintenance on this trail as the snow continues to melt in the higher country. Join us for one day or for the full weekend.

Following the work party, Bellingham REI will provide some delicious Cast Iron Cooking chow. Stay to learn about (and taste) backcountry dutch oven cooking

This easy 1.5 mile forest hike is a good all season or rainy day outing. The trail begins by descending a staircase. It winds through lush old growth forest paralleling the North Fork of the Nooksack River. The views of the river are exciting, as whitewater gushes over boulders. We'll begin our season with some general maintenance on this trail as the snow continues to melt in the higher country.

Driving directions:
From the Glacier Public Service Center, follow the Mt. Baker Highway 542 east approximately two miles. The trailhead is located on the right hand side of the highway directly across from the Douglas Fir Campground. Persons camping at Douglas Fir can also access the trail from the campground itself.
